Programmable humidity chamber by Ozmist Food, Greater Noida — ±0.5°C / ±2% RH accuracy for IEC 60068, JEDEC and ICH testing

The Ozmist Food Humidity Chamber is a programmable environmental test chamber engineered for electronics manufacturers, pharmaceutical labs, textile testing houses, and materials research groups. Temperature range spans –20°C to +150°C with humidity control from 10% to 98% RH depending on temperature. The chamber uses a stainless AISI 304 interior, PID-controlled compressor cooling, resistive heating, ultrasonic humidification (steam variant optional), and a Siemens PLC with 10†HMI. Compliance to IEC 60068-2-3, 60068-2-30, 60068-2-78, and JEDEC J-STD-020 test conditions is built into pre-loaded recipes. Standard internal volumes: 80 L, 150 L, 250 L, 500 L, 1000 L; custom sizes engineered to customer specification. Ozmist provides NABL-traceable calibration certificates at commissioning and offers annual re-calibration under AMC.

Real-World Industrial Applications

The Humidity Chamber is deployed across a diverse set of Indian industrial and commercial contexts. What follows is a set of expert application briefs prepared by our engineering team, each describing the operating problem, the applicable Indian and international standards, and how Ozmist's configuration is engineered to meet it.

Every application description references peer-reviewed research or a named regulatory standard so procurement teams, quality engineers, and plant managers can validate the claims against their own audit expectations. Sources are cited in the References section at the end of this page. If your application does not match one of the profiles below, contact our engineering team via the quote form — the majority of custom Ozmist installations begin with a spec conversation rather than a datasheet pick.

IEC 60068 Environmental Testing of Electronics

Electronics manufacturing · IEC 60068-2-3, 2-30, 2-78; JEDEC J-STD-020

IEC 60068-2-3 (Damp Heat, Steady State), 60068-2-30 (Damp Heat, Cyclic), and 60068-2-78 (Damp Heat, Long Duration) are the workhorse tests for electronic reliability. PCB assemblies, connectors, sensors, and power supplies must pass 240 or 720 hours at 40°C / 93% RH (or similar variants) with functional testing before and after. Failure modes include ionic corrosion, conductive anodic filament (CAF) growth, and dielectric breakdown. Ozmist chambers with the JEDEC/IEC recipe library make it straightforward to run these tests with correct ramp, dwell, and data logging. Indian electronics manufacturers use Ozmist chambers for domestic BIS certification and export CE / UL evidence.

JEDEC MSL Preconditioning for Semiconductor Packages

Semiconductor packaging · JEDEC J-STD-020

JEDEC J-STD-020 defines Moisture Sensitivity Levels (MSL) for semiconductor packages. Preconditioning at 30°C / 60% RH for 40 hours (MSL 3) or 60°C / 60% RH for 40 hours (MSL 4) is required before reflow-simulation to qualify a package moisture rating. Semiconductor OSAT and Indian ATMP facilities use humidity chambers for these preconditioning steps. Ozmist supplies chambers with precision ±2% RH at the moderate temperatures JEDEC preconditioning demands, and with data logging that provides the required audit trail for the MSL qualification report.

Textile Conditioning and Yarn Testing

Textile testing · ASTM D1776; ISO 139

Textile physical testing is standardised at 65% RH / 20°C (ASTM D1776, ISO 139). Yarn tenacity, fabric shrinkage, and dimensional stability all depend on textile moisture content, which must be equilibrated in a standard atmosphere before testing. Textile testing laboratories, mill quality-control labs, and BIS-certified test houses use humidity chambers for this conditioning. Ozmist chambers hold 65% ±2% at 20°C indefinitely for the required conditioning periods (typically 24 hours).

Cosmetics and Personal Care Stability

Cosmetics manufacturing

Cosmetics stability testing at 40°C / 75% RH (analogous to ICH stability) is used to project shelf life for creams, lotions, sunscreens, and colour cosmetics. Failure modes include phase separation, colour drift, microbial growth, and sensory degradation. Cosmetics manufacturers and third-party testing houses use humidity chambers with the pharma stability recipe library. Ozmist’s chamber accuracy makes it suitable both for cosmetics stability and adjacent ICH Q1A pharma studies without needing a dedicated stability chamber.

Packaging Barrier Property Testing

Packaging · ASTM E96; ISO 15106

Packaging films, laminates, and rigid containers must maintain barrier properties across temperature and humidity variations. WVTR (water vapour transmission rate) testing per ASTM E96 requires conditioning at defined RH/T combinations. Food packaging validation for MAP (modified atmosphere packaging), pharma foil-lid tests, and cosmetics tube seal validation all rely on humidity chambers. Ozmist chambers are used by Indian food-packaging leaders including flexible-packaging converters and multinational pharma packaging validation labs.

Building Material Weathering and Adhesion

Construction / materials · IS 15489; ASTM D4585

Sealants, adhesives, paints, and rendered surfaces are tested in humidity chambers for wet adhesion, blister formation, and freeze-thaw cycling. IS 15489 and ASTM D4585 define test conditions. Building material suppliers, paint manufacturers, and civil-engineering research labs use humidity chambers to accelerate long-term weathering studies into weeks.
